History of Calypso Hut Restaurants On a warm Spring day, in the month of May 1987, Stanley Rampersaud proudly opened the doors of the very first Calypso Hut Restaurant. Hard work, determination and generosity, as well as serving the finest Guyanese Style Chinese Food in Toronto quickly made Calypso Hut an overnight success. Stanley used 3 criterias from day one: Paul Rampersaud, Stanley's brother, took great pride when he opened the doors of Calypso Hut 2. He too, opened on a warm speing day in the month of May in 1990. Perseverance, Ingenuity, as wel as fantastic staff made Calypso Hut 2 another success story. History repeated itself, but was still going to happen a third time. Peter Rampersaud, the eldest of the three brothers, opened the doors of Calypso Hut 3, on a cold winter day, in the month of January, 1993. Peter wasn't as fortunate as his two brothers to have mother nature on his side, but that didn't matter, you see Peter provided plenty of comfort and warmth for everyone inside.
